Merry Christmas and Laundry Day FREE recipe!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Earth's Healing Books.  I hope you all got a REALLY great holiday and that you gave something wonderful to someone.  My Grandson bought his dad a present with his own money and it has been so adorable to see how excited he has been to give that to his dad.  Life lessons….

You might ask yourself "what does laundry have to do with Essential Oils?" I like to make my own laundry detergent and I add Essential Oils to bring a pleasing aroma to my laundry.  This recipe makes about 2 gallons of laundry detergent for about 50 cents.  It is fun to make and a great activity to do with the children.  This detergent is LOW SUDSING, so it is perfect for those new, fancy washing machines.  I always double this recipe and Make 3 extra large jugs of detergent at once.

LAUNDRY DETERGENT
1/4 bar Fels Naptha, grated or chopped small  (available at Walmart in detergent aisle)
1/4 Cup Borax (walmart)
1/4 Cup washing suds (walmart) OR baking soda
Water
20 drops Essential Oil

Put one cup water and grated Fels Naptha in a steel pan or double boiler.  Heat on med until almost boiling, stir constantly, then remove from heat.

In extra large bowl add the Borax, Fels Naptha, and washing suds (or baking soda).  Stir with a whisk and then stir in 10 cups of water.
Using a funnel, divide mixture into two heavy jugs. (milk jugs are too thin, I usually use old heavy laundry detergent jugs.)

Let mixture sit for 24 hours undisturbed, covered with lid or foil.

Add 8 or 9 cups of water to the mixture in each jug.
Add 10 drops essential oils to each jug.  I usually use Orange, Lemon or Lavender.
Shake well and label each jug.
1/4 Cup per each load of laundry.
Shake well before each usage.

Have fun making this.  I always feel such a great sense of accomplishment when I have it done and know that I made a LOT of detergent for such a small amount of money.  It works very good and my laundry smells so good when washed with this detergent.
