Homemade Bath Salts

I love bath salts!  They are kind of pricey, though.  It is so fun to make your own, and really inexpensive.  So, here is how I do it.

I like to put dried flowers in my bath salts for color and smell variety.  I took dried calendula, hibiscus, rosehips and lavender and grinder them up in a grinder.

Then I take Himalayan Pink Salt, and a finer salt such as orsa salt, which I used today.  You can literally use any type of salt, epsom salt is a really great one as well.  I put them all in a big glass bowl.

Then I take whatever essential oils I'm in the mood for.  Today I used Thieves and Lavender from Young Living, as well as Patchouli, Helichrysum and Ylang Ylang from Florihana (very pricey oils but very good).  I put in 5-10 drops of each oil, depending on which scent I really want to stand out.

Then I mix them all together really good to try and make sure asa much of the salt gets coated as possible.

Time to mix in the beautiful dried flowers!  This is totally optional....if you want to tint your salts, then you would add the food coloring AFTER you add the oil, and BEFORE you add the dried flowers.  Make sure you use plant based food coloring that doesn't have the harmful dyes in it.

Now I take the salts and put them in glass jars that I have saved.  I really love old mason jars or Pink Zebra jars (scented soy based wax for warmers), or even old herb and spice jars.

I love the color variation in the salts.  I did not use dye in these because I really like the natural look the himilayan pink salt and orsa salt lend to the finished product.  Enjoy!

***If pregnant, please check which oils are safe to use - most do not recommend using bath salts during pregnancy.

Super Powers in a Bottle

The Love of My Life
I am primarily composed of the vata dosha.  This means I do a lot, have a lot of excitement in my life, run at full speed constantly and keep a lot of projects going on throughout the years.  But one project/love that I have had for many years is the love of essential oils.  This love is so great that I wake up thinking about the various oils and their uses, and I go to sleep thinking about them (this might be because I use a spray of essential oils on my sheets to help me sleep).

Uses of the Oils
It's surprising what people think about essential oils and aromatherapy.  I have had so many people come up and say that they don't think smelling the oils do them any good.  Good God, woman!  Don't just smell them.  Rub them on, bathe in them.  The oils are so full of healing properties.  God put plants on this Earth that are chock full of everything we need to heal ourselves,  physically, spiritually and mentally.  These plants are distilled to give us the good stuff in a little, tiny bottle.  It's magic.

How to Use Them
Get a book on essential oils to learn the different recipes and methods of usage.  You can put a few drops in a diffuser and each oil has different properties and natural chemicals in them.  You can diffuse an oil to make a grumpy person happy, or to clear out the airways of someone with a sinus infection.  They can end a migraine, or get a party off to a great start.  It all depends on which ones you use in your diffuser.

For example, a common essential oil, peppermint, has the following properties: analgesic, anesthetic, anti fungal, anti infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antigalactogogue, antiphlogistic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, cephalic, cholagogue, cordial, decongestant, digestive, emenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, hepatic, invigorating, mucolytic, nerving, stimulant, stomachic, sudorific, vasoconstrictor, vermifuge and insect repellant.  And these are just a few of the properties in this oil.  The healing components of these oils are cray cray!

Essential oils can be used different ways.  Some can be put on the body straight, others can be mixed with Himalayan salt for the perfect bath.  Some can be added to water as a gargle, and almost all of them can be mixed with a carrier oil and rubbed on the body.  Insect repellants, burn salves, calming sprays, monster fighters, acne cleansers, fungal destroyers, powder, foot baths, anything you care to make can be made with essential oils.  Just do a little research and you will have it whipped when it comes to using your oils.

Earth's Healing Essential Oils
Pharmaceutical companies all use the DNA fingerprint of plants to copy and make their medicines from.  Everything from cough syrup to diet pills are all copied from God's own foliage.  And to think….you already have all those magical compounds in your little bottles.  Just learn what they are for and you will be able to heal just about anything for everyone in your family.  I know a lot of people who have recently begun selling essential oils in a couple of home based businesses that are booming.  Find one of these people that sell these oils and ask them questions about how you can use them, how to prepare them, and what they are used for.  Buy some.  Have fun.  Not only will you and your family smell great, you will also have God's little medicine cabinet at your fingertips.  The oils are all natural, safe, smell great but be sure to check to make sure the ones you're buying don't have any chemicals added, but are 100% pure essential oils.

My book, Earth's Healing Essential Oils, won't be published until the end of this summer, but there are a lot of good books out there that you can purchase to give you recipes that will help you overcome depression, protect you from germs, viruses and illness, and renew you spiritually.  Check them out.  I am about to go and put a little bergamot oil and lemon oil in my diffuser.  I need me some energy today so I can clean this house, cook some food, and have the afternoon to go outside and play.  I really want to go and catch some minnows to put in my aquarium.  And maybe a crawdad.
Thyme to clean,

8 Sexually Charged Essential Oil Recipes

Need to add a little oomph to your sex life?  These essential oils are sure to spark a little love interest in your direction. It has been proven time and time again that our nasal receptors can detect chemicals produced by another persons body that ultimately determines if we are attracted to them or not.  Its all about those pheromones, ladies.

The Oils

These 8 essential oils are derived from plants that have been used for thousands of years as aphrodisiacs.  The chemicals in our brains react to different smells and to various aromas.  Use one of these oils and watch the one that "almost" got away come back for more.  Essential oils can be used in such a wide variety of ways.  I have a friend who thought the only thing you could do with the oils was to smell them.  Boy, was she ever wrong.  Essential oils can be rubbed on, soaked in, diffused, sprayed, sprinkled and a hundred other different delivery methods.  I am going to include a recipe you can use with each sexually stimulating oil, and these recipes are interchangeable.  So have fun, experiment and get ready for your weekend of love.

Roses are for Lovers Bath

10 - drops rose essential oil
7 - drops neroli oil
1 - tablespoon milk
Add the essential oils to your bath as the water is running.  Add the milk to disperse the oils throughout the water.  Soak in this bath with the one you love.  Bring the sexual aroma of a bordello to your home with this little blend.  Love is definitely in the air and you can count of getting what you want when you take this bath.

I Know You Want Me Spray

15 - drops jasmine essential oil
3 ounces water
Jasmine has been used since recorded history began to boost sexual prowess among lovers.  Mix your jasmine oil with the water and pour into a spray bottle.  Shake before spraying.  You can spray this anywhere, your body, your room, your hair, anywhere you expect the one you love to be.  This oil has been time tested for raising the temperature of love.

Shake The Bed Powder

8 - drops clary sage
8 - drops Ylang-ylang
1/4 - cup cornstarch
Mix all the ingredients together in a small mason jar.  Poke holes into the mason jar lid. Use this as a shaker top and shake some of the powder mixture into the pillowcases and under the sheets.  This delightful blend will have the bed shaking tonight!  You can cut a square of plastic wrap, remove the ring and place the wrap over the top of the jar, then replace the ring.  This way the powder will remain safely in the jar until you are ready to shake the bed another day.

Come Here, What's that Perfume?

2 - drops vanilla oil
2 - drops cinnamon oil
2 - drops amber oil
water
Use these oils in a blend mixed with water in your diffuser.  Follow your own diffuser directions for the amount of water to add.  Run this diffuser when you feel like "playing" and see if your mate isn't more than happy to join you.  The aroma imparted by this particular recipe is both pleasing and enticing and will make your home smell great at the same time.

A Little To The Right, Please

7 - drops rose oil
6 - drops jasmine oil
1 - tablespoon carrier oil
Mix the essential oils with the carrier oil.  Carrier oil can be any type of oil that you feel is good for your body: olive oil, jojoba oil, sesame oil, grape seed oil, etc.  Massage the oil onto your partner's back, or have them massage it on yours.  Do not get the oil into any sensitive areas.  The aroma's in this oil will have the giver feeling just as good as the givee.

Using essential oils for various medical needs and health reasons is something I do almost every day.  But sometimes its nice to just have fun with them and use them for mind, body, spiritual and soulful needs.  Nothing is more of a spiritual or soulful nature than love and romance.  So give these oils a try and you just might get lucky tonight!
much healing to you,
vannoy

I Can't Believe My Eyes! My Ears! My Everything!

Exciting news here.  Actually some of the most exciting news of my life.  We have accepted an offer from St. Martin's Press (part of Macmillan Press) and we will be publishing our book soon, Earth's Healing Essential Oils.  We have been on cloud 9 since yesterday.  I actually have lavender and vetiver in my diffuser running all day to help me focus and calm down.  BUT I CAN'T CALM DOWN.  Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy girls here.  Lin and Chele, my daughter/sister/co-authors, are so excited too.  They developed parts of the book themselves and are waiting on pins and needles for it to come out.  We also have a 2nd, 3rd and 4th book in development and they will be a part of the "Earth's Healing" series.  This has been an idea of ours for many years and we are so excited that it is finally coming to fruition.

This book is so amazing, I know you're all into essential oils, and you will probably all want this book.  Tons of ailments, all in alphabetical order (ex: acne, bronchitis, colds, diverticulitis) so they are easy to look up.  Then there are a bunch of recipes under each one using essential oils along with their therapeutic properties.  There is also a list of essential oils under each ailment that work specifically for that particular ailment so that you can make your own recipes if you want.  It's the book we have always been looking for, and when we couldn't find one, we wrote it.

I am just about done with editing now, then it will go to the publishing house for a few more rounds of editing.  I will let you all know as soon as it is available on Amazon and in bookstores.  Thanks so much for all of your support.  As soon as the book is available, I am going to have a big give-a-way!
Much love and healing to you,
Vannoy

I can do WHAT with my essential oils? and FREE ESSENTIAL OILS?

This is the second time I am writing this blog today.  Forgive me for a moment while I go and apply a few drops of frankincense to my wrist to calm me down.  Wow.  My whole blog just disappeared.  And it was GOOD!  Dang it!

Anyway.  I get a lot of requests from friends and acquaintances who want to know what to do with their essential oils now that they finally have them.  So I thought I would give you a little 24 hour recap of what I would normally do with mine in a day.  Besides applying a drop or two of calming oils to my wrist because I SCREWED UP and deleted my whole post!

Free bottle of Essential Oil contest!!!  Add your own comment on our Facebook page here, and follow us on Instagram here, like and share this post, and we will have a giveaway of Eucalyptus essential oil with a random drawing from the comments, shares and likes.  Plus we will all learn amazing tips and hints about essential oils. So SHARE, SHARE, SHARE and this could be yours!  I am excited to try this Pipingrock brand of essential oils. I have read both positive and negative reviews about it, so I ordered some and will make up my own mind.  But I would like to give a bottle away, and you can decide on your own if you like it or not.  So like, share and comment to make it yours.

I would usually start the day by doing a load of laundry.  I make my own laundry detergent, and I always add a few drops of essential oils to it and it makes my whole home smell so good.  I gave the instructions on how to make laundry detergent in a previous post.  I'm crazy about this stuff…just not so crazy about the actually doing laundry part.

Last night I pulled my scalloped potatoes (high carb, who am I kidding?) out of the oven and some cheese sauce crawled up my arm and burnt the crap out of me.  I like to keep a little package of vials of essential oils by my chair so I pulled out my tiny vial of lavender and rubbed it on.  Even though it hurt like hell last night, today it is gone!

I took a long, warm bath last night and added a few drops of ylang-ylang for their purifying effects.  (I had just finished a scary movie and wanted to get all that horror off of me!)  I also added a tablespoon of milk to the bath so that the oils wouldn't float on top of the water, but disperse into the water.  I never add essential oils to the water until I have been in for awhile and the water cools off some.  Hot water and essential oils DO NOT MIX!

I saw a post previously on FB about getting a cut up lemon or lime, some rosemary twigs (thanks, Chele) and water.  Boil them slightly and their aroma fills the home.  It was delightful.  I then poured it into a mason jar and lit a tea candle on top.  I noticed after a day that the lemon smell was gone.  So I added a few drops of sweet orange essential oil to it.  Mainly as a mind screw!  People come into my home, see the lemon, lime and rosemary in the jar, but smell oranges.  HAHA

I also felt a small sore throat coming on yesterday.  I gargled with a  glass of water and I added a few drops of tea tree and sage oil.  I spit the water out, because I don't swallow!  Seriously, be very careful about ingesting essential oils.  They are very, very powerful.

The main point I want to get across to you is to experiment, use and have fun with your oils.  I am going to go and work on the editing part of my book, Earth's Healing Essential Oils, so I can hurry and get this book out on the market.  It has over a thousand recipes that you can use in all areas of your life. I can't wait.  Please pray that we get it published SOON.  Share, Like and Comment!
I am going to play with my dog now…she is looking at me with impatience.  Speaking of dogs, spike lavender is what we use to keep the fleas away!  Just put a few drops in your hand and rub on the dog, they think you are petting them and have no clue you are repelling fleas!!!

Much healing to you,
Vannoy
